This large hotel reception and lounge restaurant area had an open fire with an old badly designed chimney of part masonry construction and part twin wall insulated metal system. It regularly didn't operate properly filling the room with smoke and had recently suffered a small chimney fire. The chimney would need serious alteration and we recommended installing a new efficient multifuel stove but as they say on Time Team we had only three days to do it.

This large single storey extension already had a stove and metal chimney system but it didn't operate properly and when inspected to make preparations for installing a new stove the installation was found to be unsafe and all needed to be replaced.

The bottom part of the original Victorian chimney breast had been removed in this property and replaced with unattractive modern red bricks. Our recommended builder will be removing this and rebuilding in the original Victorian style as well as re-pointing the chimney outside before we install a new efficient Charnwood Country 4 stove with new chimney liner.
